WUB’s Concussion Circle

Unfortunately, there is not a concussion clinic in NE Ohio that has trained concussion specialists under one umbrella prepared to tackle every avenue of the injury. NE Ohio’s most helpful practitioners for me were found by word of mouth, not by googling “where to go for a concussion in NE Ohio”. Yes, I live in an area that has some of the best hospitals in the world yet their concussion clinics couldn’t get me back to my baseline, they could only get me so far- which wasn’t very far. If they couldn’t get me back to baseline how many other people suffered like me?

After 3-4 months of being “stuck” with the initial treatment plan, I started to ask other’s who had experienced head trauma where to turn. You see, the practitioners that were able to help me were the opposite of the ones you would think could. They were not the most well known professionals in the medical field nor were they the ones who spend billions of dollars on advertisements each year. Actually, they were the exact opposite of them.

My “A Team” has small, family run practices. They care. I wasn’t just another statistic to report. I wasn’t just another patient to make money off of. They got to know me. They got to know my story. They understood it. They listened to my feedback and adjusted their treatment methods according to my needs. These professionals wanted me to get better even if it meant working with me for hours on end in a given day. If that was in my best interest to get me into the next phase of recovery, they were willing to do it. These people were different. They got me back to functioning in my own home and in the world.
